X-Men First Class

I like this franchise. It's pure comic book and always entertaining. Wasn't sure I was interested in yet another prequel, but then I saw the trailer....

At first glance it looked like they threw together some unknowns because the franchise would sell, regardless. I like being wrong.

McAvoy is solid. He's shown his versatility in a variety of roles and I like that. Michael Fassbender was good in Inglorious Basterds. Creepy Kevin is a damn good actor. Oliver Platt is always awesome playing a caricature of himself.

I love that it takes place during the Kennedy, Cuban missile crisis era. The Comedian shot Kennedy. The X-Men would easily beat the Watchmen in a brawl. Dr. Manhattan would make it interesting, though. I heard through the grapevine that Dr. Manhattan and Mystique were dating.

X-Men First Class looks to give context to the story in the same exciting, action packed manner as the rest of the franchise. Good enough for me.

Big screen viewing!

  1. Dr. Manhattan would destroy all the X-Men very quickly. I heard he and Mystique are in counseling.

  2. Kind of made me wish they would produce another bond flick and make it a 60's throwback. with the special effects of today and the coolness of the 60's it would be awesome.
